visit by the Camera Club, 12 October. It is a busy time of year so there were only five members available for the Camera Club visit to Winkworth Arboretum near Godalming. It was a beautiful afternoon for a walk and we enjoyed the distant views and the collection of trees in the arboretum. We were too early in the season for true autumn colours but managed to find some colourful scenes all the same. It was the season for fungi and Sally got up close for a picture. Too close in fact, so it was out of focus! This is Chris's picture - much better! .....and this is Liz's photo, taken with flash. Liz found another strange toadstool We enjoyed this seat carved with owls, although it was a challenge to get a photograph with no-one sitting on it! Much easier was the fox seat. Here we conducted a pointless but amusing experiment - Chris's picture is below. We all set our cameras on a wall facing the seat but a little way away. We then set the timers on all the cameras and ran for all we were worth to get back to the seat. Everyone made it apart from poor old Sally who hasn't quite sat down! After all that effort we concentrated on photographing the beautiful trees and scenery. There may not have been many colourful trees, but the fallen leaves made good pictures. The trouble with Winkworth is that you go downhill to start with and have to climb back up when you are weary so this was a welcome sight. We sat outside for our very welcome tea.
